HEAT EXCHANGE IN EVAPORATORS SYSTEM

  • Hence evaporators system are the heart of many industries. Its efficiency depends upon the efficiency of its heat exchange process. For the good working of the evaporator, it has a heat exchanger. What it is?

Hence, the evaporator system employs a heat exchanger for optimal heat exchange between separated media, whether by plate or tube.

Hence, heat exchangers find broad use in evaporation, wastewater, chemical, and food industries, and are commonly employed in car radiators. Here, let’s see how the heat exchange process happens in the evaporator system:

How does heat exchange happen in the Evaporator System?

Heat exchange happens in three broadways according to their arrangement of flow.

    • Parallel-flow heat exchangers involve two mediums entering from the same point, traveling parallel, and exchanging heat between them.
    • Counter-flow heat exchangers enable efficient heat exchange as two mediums flow in opposite directions, ensuring optimal thermal transfer.
    • The third one is cross-flow heat exchange fluids flow and evaporators system approximately perpendicular to one another through the heat exchanger.

What are the factors responsible for effective heat exchange?

    1. To ensure efficient operation, designers maximize the contact surface area between two fluids in heat exchangers.

    2. By reducing resistance to the flow of the medium increases efficiency.
    3. The fins or corrugations inside of the wall increase surface area thus increasing the efficiency of the heat exchanger.
    4. The low viscosity of the medium is good for the efficiency of the heat exchanger.

How does heat exchange occur in a different evaporator system?

A plate evaporator, with a heat exchanger between metal plates, enhances efficiency by offering more surface area for heat exchange compared to conventional methods. Hence, it greatly affects heat exchange.

Film evaporator– evaporation occurs in the tubes and sometimes outside the vertical or horizontal tubes. Therefore, the fluid will make a film along the walls of the tube, progressing upwards or downwards. Therefore, viscosity, film thickness, and temperature difference across the film layer crucially influence heat exchange efficiency in film evaporators. And, Thin-film evaporators system aid inefficient heat exchange. Having a horizontal film evaporator heat exchanger provides a high heat exchange coefficient, ensuring a compact structure.

The process of heat exchange in film evaporators systemremains consistent, whether in falling film, rising film, vertical tubes, or horizontal tube evaporators.

The efficiency of heat exchange is important in plants like

    • Wastewater treatment plant.
    • For concentrating juices of food extracts.
    • Chemical industries like paints, putties, acid evaporators, etc.
    • Pharmacological industries.
