In this article, we will go in-depth into the process of an evaporator. Along with this, we will also try to formulate a basic understanding of the difference between rising film evaporators and falling film evaporators.  In this way, you will attain a better understanding of the concept of evaporators. Through this article, we will formulate a better understanding of this topic at an in-depth level.

The primary focus of most companies at this juncture is to find out ways through which their activities can become more efficient. Due to the accumulation of more and more industries every day, the energy quotient is on a rampant rise. Energy is present all around us. This energy is present in both renewable and non-renewable sources. You might not know, but to accomplish this goal one of the most effective ways is to use the preserved energy from cooking operations.

Energy may be saved by evaporating the water which is present in the raw material of food before it enters the cooker using a waste heat evaporator. This operation can ultimately reduce the raw material stored in the cooker, leading to an improvement in energy efficiency.

Understanding the purpose of an evaporator:

The most basic task of an evaporator is simply to remove water from the solution and keep the process of evaporation slurry. You might not know, but evaporators and driers are completely different from each other. Discharge that comes out of a drier is in the solid state, whereas in the case of the evaporator, the conditions are completely different. In the case of the evaporator, the discharge that you will obtain is liquid.

The physical process of evaporation requires input energy in the form of heat. As with all evaporators, the process of evaporation requires the removal of water in order to make the evaporator work. The main heat source for all evaporators is water vapor. This vapor can either be in the state of boiler steam or in the form of waste vapor.

For the second requirement of evaporators, the transfer of heat energy from the heat source takes place. Many times, evaporators make use of a tabular heater called a shell and tube heat exchanger. With the help of both tools, water vapor condenses the vapor on the outside of the tube. The energy that is given up is called latent heat energy.

This overall increase in the heat causes the evaporated liquid to boil. The final requirement that you will find in an evaporator is the way through which you can separate water vapor.

Subsequently, this is the way through which the system of the evaporator operates. In the following section, we will have a deep understanding of both equipment rising film evaporator and falling film evaporator.

What are Rising Film Evaporators?

In a usual rising film evaporator, you will find that heat exchangers are mounted in a vertical manner. The liquid in the evaporator then moves in an upward direction. The water in the evaporator liquid boils with the rise of liquid in tubes. With the help of this boiling action, water is forced to move up and outside of the tube.

Both liquid and vapor will leave the heat exchanger together and then enter the vapor body. After vapor separation, evaporator liquid flows from the vapor and then enters the vapor body. After the process of vapor separation, the liquid of the evaporator flows from the vapor body then to the circulating pump and ends with the heat exchanger.

Understanding falling film evaporator:

Both the falling film evaporator and the rising film evaporator are installed in the same manner. In this case, the heat exchanger receives an injection of evaporator liquid from the top and allows it to flow downhill.

The boiling of water in the evaporator liquid occurs as the liquid flows through the tube in a downward direction. With the help of a circulating pump, the evaporator liquid flow is maintained.

Conclusion:

The aforementioned were some of the prudent ways through which falling film evaporators and rising film evaporators operate. Our focus through this discussion was to make the conceptual knowledge of both technologies clear.

Furthermore, if you are in an urgent requirement to implement such evaporators in your manufacturing unit, you can also take the help of AlquaInc. This company has made the process of implementation of evaporators in the manufacturing unit sublime.
