over 20 systems in the chlor-alkali field, the largest of which

- Dow Co: 1,500 T/day NaCl Evaporator/Crystallizer System.
- Dow Co: Vacuum crystallizer, NaOH, monohydrate, salt purification

- Dow Co: Triple Salt Crystallizer system – NaCl, KCl, Na2SO4.
- Dow Co: NaOH Concentrator producing 75% caustic.
- Reichhold Chemical CO: NaOH Anhydrous Dehydration, heat transfer

- Hooker Chemical: 1,000 T/day NaCl evaporator crystallizer, NY.

inorganic compounds: Ammonium sulfate, ammonium chloride, ammonium
hydroxide, ammonium nitrate, sodium sulfate, sodium carbonate, urea,
calcium acetate, calcium chloride, lithium chloride, chromium
trioxide, cupric sulfate (blue vitriol), ferric chloride, barium
chloride, sodium chloride, sugar, MSG, boric acid, adipic acid,
MgSO4, KCl, silver nitrate, zinc sulfate, caprolactam, acetic acid,
lactose, sodium cyanide, etc. Some of the larger units furnished:

PULP INDUSTRY
- Over 50
systems for Kraft, sulfite and soda liquors. Pioneered the
development of processing calcium based sulfite waste liquor in WI,
using a channel switching lamella evaporator. The first plants were
supplied to Consolidated, Rhinelander and Northern Pulp. Developed
the first.

Evaporation process for concentrating magnesium base sulfite red
liquor for Weyerhaeuser Timber in Longview, WA. This plant was the
first pulp mill to convert to a soluble base cooking liquor.
Designed and installed the first successful evaporator system
handling ammonia base sulfite red liquor for Puget Sound Pulp and
Paper. At Kraft Pulping developed the first successful concentrator
to produce 65% solids concentrate, by designing a special unit
capable of processing a very viscous liquor. Designed the first
mechanical vapor compression pulp mill evaporator for Rayonier’s
plant at Grays Harbor.
RADIO ACTIVE WASTE
- Designed
most of the waste decontamination systems that were installed in new
nuclear power plants like Brown’s Jerry, Byron and Briadwood, Zion
Con Edison, etc. Fabrication specification were very severe with N
stamp requirements rigidly enforced. Also built units for Mitsubishi
of Japan and Stein of France. Experience in designing and
fabricating to both the Japanese Miti and the French Bureaux Des
Mines codes.
CORN PRODUCTS AND VEGETABLE OILS
- Several
installations in Decatur, Illinois for Staley’s and Corn Products
Co., to process steep water. This liquor becomes very difficult to
handle due to its rubber like nature when it gets thick. Supplied
plants to VWR in Seattle for concentrating starch liquors.
SUGAR AND SALT
- Supplied systems to Morton Salt, Diamond Crystal Salt
and Speckles Sugar. Much of the crystallization design concepts were
established with the classic Manistee pans that were extensively used in both sugar
and salt production.
